Captain James A. Warwick was killed on December 23, 1996, after being struck by a vehicle while directing traffic at the site of a two-vehicle wreck on US 281 just north of Burnet.
Capt. Warwick was a member of the Burnet Volunteer Fire Department for 30 years and was also a longtime City of Burnet employee, holding many positions over the years.
In the Burnet VFD, he held office as President, Vice-President, Secretary, Assistant Fire Chief, Captain, and Assistant Fire Marshall. He was also an EMS volunteer driver.
Captain Warwick is survived by his wife Ruth, 3 Daughters, 1 Son, a Sister, and numerous Grandchildren.
